••• We (not literally) ran into Lou and Harriet Jacobucci at the Stop & Shop the other day. Lou, wc find, has retired as head of the Cape Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, but Harriet is still plenty active operating Cape Homcmakcrs. Nice to sec them.

Gladstone W Collymorc, 92, of Hyannis. who immigrated to the United States as a child, died Jan. 14 al Cape Cod Hospital fix tended Care Community - Manor in Hyannis. He was the husband of the late Juanwaia A/cveido-Thomas, to whom he was married lor 62 years. Born in Barbados, Mr. Collymorc came to Boston at age
7. He graduated from Boston Trade School. After his education, he joined the National Guard and later the Army, serving as a military police sergeant during World War II. Donald M. Drew Donald M Drew, X0. ol Barnslable. a World War II Armv veteran, died Jan. 14 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community Pavilion in Hyannis. He was ihe husband of Helen (Jones) Drew. Mr. Drew was born in Hyannis and educated in Barnstable schools. He was stationed at Pearl Harhor in Hawaii when it was attacked by the Japanese in 1941. He also served in Normandy, northern France and the Rhmcland He was co-owner with his brothers of Baxter Transportation in Hyannis for 40 years He was a life member of the Odd Fellows Lodge 226 in Hyannis and was an avid gardener and a Patriots Ian Besides his wife he leaves iwo sons, Donald M. Drew Jr. of Cummaquid and James W. Drew of Barnslable: two brothers. Kenneth Drew ol Marsions Mills and Ilhel Drew Jr. of Hvannis'. a sister Barbara Perry of Hyannis: and lour granddaughters. HO. of Yarmouthport. who studied voice and sang in choruses most of her life, died Jan 14 al Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster She was (he wife of Erving Arundale lor 61 years. Bom in Hatboro, Pa., she was raised and educated in Eh/abeth. N.J. She loved music and studied voice wilh Madeline King Bartell in Wesllicld, N.J.. and with Evan Evans, a Metropolitan Opera star and instructor at the Julliard School of Music in New York She gave a concert in Times Hall in New York where she made her vocal debut. For 12 years she w;h the soprano soloist at St. John's Episcopal Church in Elizabeth, and later al the Dutch Reformed Church in Newark. N.J. Mrs Arundale lived in Weslfield for 30 years before moving to Cape Cod in 1972 where she became a soloist at the First Congregational Church in Yarmouth. She was also the chairwoman of the church's music committee and taught Sunday school. In addition, she was a member of the Diaconate, the Meetenetts Women's Fellowship and volunteered at the Ditty Box. She enjoyed bridge and oil painting. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters. Joanne Arundale Patterson of Crystal Lake, 111., and Susan Arundale Zolli of Providence, R.I.; a son, Charles R. Arundale of West Yarmouth; a brother. Malcolm Allison of Beauford, S.C. and North Dartmouth: two sisters, Amy Brewster of Long Beach, Calif., and Susan Bronson of Hilton Head, S.C; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Yarmouth at a later date. Burial will be private. Louis John Jacobucci Louis John Jacobucci. 77. of South Dennis, who protected children in danger of abuse and neglect lor 25 years on Cape Cod, died Jan. I I at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Nursing Center alter a long illness. He was born in Derby, Conn., where he graduated from high school. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and received a master's degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. During World War II, Mr. Jacobucci served in the Army as a radar mechanic, stationed in Shimya in the Aleutian Islands. He was also an Army cook and baker. A social work administrator for 37 years, he moved to the Cape in 1962 from Plainlield, N.J., to take charge of the Cape and Islands office of what was then called the Children's Protective Service, later known as the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. For 25 years, Mr. Jacobucci served as district director for Cape Cod and assistant regional director. He retired in 1987. He also was active in Barnstable housing issues and was elected in 1974 to the town's housing authority. In addition, he was active in the Reverse Freedom Riders, the Cape Cod Community Council, now merged with United Way of Cape Cod. He served on many boards of directors, including the Cape Cod Mental Health Association, the Cape Cod Homemaker Service, the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and the Massachusetts Conference of Social Welfare. He also was a teacher who published in his field. Mr. Jacobucci was an avid cat lover, birdwatcher and reader. He is survived by his wife, Harriet McCurdy Jacobucci of Soulh Yarmouth; two sons. Mark Jacobucci of Laguna Nigucl. Calif., and Andrew Jacobucci of Cambridge; two stepsons. Stephen Cameron of Georgetown, Del., and Stanton Cameron of Baraboo Wis. two granddaughters, and three step-grandsons. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod, P.O. Fred B. 'Ted' Simpson
Fred B. "Ted" Simpson. 87. of Centerville, a 38-ycar employee with General Electric and a retiree for 23 years on Cape Cod, died Jan. 16 at the Eagle Pond Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dennis. He was the husband of Angic (Curtis) Simpson. Mr. Simpson was born in Holliston and lived there and later in Framingham where he graduated from the former Framingham High School. For several years, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Western Massachusetts. In 1936, he began his long career with General Electric Co. at the company's plant in Ashland. In 1972, he married and settled in Nalick where he had lived for many years. He retired from G.E.in 1974 as foreman of the shipping department. He worked for three more years with the former Bay Bank in Framingham. In 1977, he moved to Centerville after vacationing on Cape Cod for many years. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Quarter Century Club at G.E. and a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Natick. He was an avid gardener and loved to work around his yard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Leonard P. Simpson of Braintrec; a daughter. MaryLec Hensley of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother; five grandchildren; live great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Wallace 'Wally ' Strange Wallace "Wally " Strange, 92, of Hyannis. a resident since 1968, died Jan. 10 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville. He was the husband of Lillian (Queen) Strange for 48 years. Born in Smithficld, Va., Mr. Strange received his formal education in Washington, D.C. While working at the Bureau of Engraving, he joined the Blue Birds dance band where he played guitar and sang. Mr. Strange was head usher at All Souls Unitarian Universal Church in Washington, D.C. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, Shrincr and official photographer of his lodge. He was the official photographer for the Sports Car Club of America and worked at the National Institute of Health in Bcthesda, Md. After moving to Hyannis in 1968, he was a photographic instructor at Otis Air Force Base until retiring in 1970. He then drove the school bus for North Side and also worked for Barnstable Bus Co. as a driver and instructor. A charter member of the Council of Doers, he loved to fish, play golf and travel. He spent many winters in Florida and traveled extensively through Europe and the Caribbean. A celebration of his life was held at the Unitarian Church in Barnstable. Burial was private. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Caroline Leighton
Caroline (Pye) Leighton, 91 a resident of West Yarmouth, died Jan. 17 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was the wife of John Leighton, who died in 1969. Born and raised in Sparkill, N.Y., Mrs. Leighton graduated in 1924 from Nyack High School as valedictorian of her class. She married in 1935 and moved to Tenafly, N.J., where she lived until 1971 when she moved to South Yarmoulh. In 1990, she moved to West Yarmouth. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed needlework and oil painting. She belonged to the West Dennis Garden Club and had a collection of African violets. She is survived by a son, James F. Leighton of South Yarmouth; a daughter, Lyn Foster of South Dennis; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Hallet Funeral Home, South Yarmouth. Burial was in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth.
