Celebration of the
50th Anniversary ol the
Cape Cod District,
Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
is being planned for some time In June, it has been announced by
Ray S. Hall, president .
A celebration committee has begun working on arrangements for and anniversary banquet at which there will be a prominent speaker.
The Cape Cod District was organized in 1915.
Before the Cape office was opened at Hyannis n social worker came from Boston from time to time, but this arrangement caused many delays and inefficiencies.
Miss Susan M. Turner became the first
District Agent in 1915 ami served until Dec. 31, 1935.
Miss Helen A. Johnson, later Mrs. Helen Johnson Barter, served as the Society's social worker from Jan. 1, 1938 until her retirement in December, 1960.
Mr. Louis Jacobucci became the
District Executive in May, 1961.
The first board president was the
Hon. Thomas C. Thacher who served continuously from 1915 to 1942.
Mrs. David Stevenson, chairman of the
Hyannis Junior Woman's Club Charity Ball committee, announced the decision of the club to donate the proceeds of this year's Charity Ball to the
MSPCC Hubbard Fund.
