“Velveteen: The Real Girl Short Fiction Collection: A Short Fiction Collection, By: Velveteen” is the story of a young Woman who travels back in time to 1983 San Francisco, where she descends into the seedy underground circuit. She subsequently triumphs over her "Manager” (Lil Boochie), as well as the symbolic representation of Pure Evil embodied in the character Jackie_drew. In the end, Velveteen goes on to find Love and Redemption at an eponymously-named Chicken Sandwich Restaurant.

Awarded a $50 savings bond for 10,000 hours was Mrs. Esther Pope, Teaticket, right. For 5000 hours service Mrs. Dorothy Ryan, Dennis Port, left, and Mrs. Elma Neff, Buzzards Bay, right, were awarded gold pins. Silver pins went to, left to right, Mrs. Norah Stukey, South Yarmouth, Mrs. M. Ruth Johnson, Osterville, and Mrs. Grace Libby, Cummaquld, for 3000 hours service. Letters of Commendation for 2500 hours went to Miss Evelyn Boulton, South Yarmouth, Mrs. Mary Adams, West Barnstable, and Mrs. Barbara Fates, Orleans, left to right. Cape Cod Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service, Inc., held its annual awards banquet recently at the Blue Water Resort Hotel, Bass River. Thirteen homemaker-home health aides were awarded prizes by Executive Director Mrs. Harriet Hall for hours of service rendered as employees of the non-profit community service. The agency board of directors holds the yearly dinner fete as a way to thank the homemakers for their devoted service to the agency and to the community. All awards include a salary increase. Letters of commendation were given to Mrs. Mary Adams, West Barnstable; Miss Evelyn Boulton, South Yarmouth; Mrs. Barbara Fates, Orleans; and Mrs. Marion Long, Buzzards Bay; for 2500 hours of service. Silver pins for 3000 hours of work were awarded to Mrs. Henrietta Bogatay, Sandwich; Mrs. Myrtle Ruth Johnson, Osterville; Mrs. Esther Lema, Falmouth; Mrs. Grace Libby, Cummaquid, Mrs. Norah Stuckey, South Yarmouth. Gold pins for 5000 hours, were given to Mrs. Elma Neff, Buzzards Bay; Mrs. Dorothy Ryan, Dennis Port. Mrs. Catherine Edson, Centerville, received an engraved, blue-enamel-lined, Revere bowl for 8000 hours of service.

For the second time in the agency's twelve-year history, Mrs. Esther Pope, of Teaticket, received a $50.00 Government bond for 10,000 hours of help to sick and disabled persons, many of them children, rendered in the last eight years.
