Re "After a Run of Penguin Chic, It's the Year of the Meerkat" by Charles Lyons [Dec. 17]:
Of the spate of new movies about meerkats, Mark Gill, the former president of Warner Independent, observes: "There's a fairly narrow band of audience interest in these animals, meaning there's room for one film but not two." I don't think so. I taped my first meerkat show from television in 1988 and have loved them ever since. A National Geographic poster adorns a wall in my computer room, and there have been meerkat cams in Britain. Another case of the audience ahead of the industry?
