- The US Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan commented during a Monday briefing in a Wall Street Journal report that Chinese President Xi Jinping, after visiting Moscow and meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, could make a video call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. .
“We would welcome such contact,” Sullivan said.
“Furthermore, we call on President Xi Jinping to restrain them,” the White House spokesperson added.
He explained that the American position is that the leader of the PRC should personally and directly hear Kiev’s point of view, not just Moscow’s point of view.
“So we actually advocated for such a conversation to happen,” Sullivan said once again.
Recall that Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has not yet confirmed to Western publications that Xi Jinping plans to visit Moscow next week.
